At Point of View Medical Aesthetics in Calgary, we offer expert dermal filler treatments to rejuvenate and enhance your natural beauty. Our skilled practitioners specialize in addressing various areas to help you achieve your aesthetic goals.

Thin or uneven lips can be enhanced with filler to improve symmetry, add volume, and create a fuller, more defined appearance.​ The area around the lips can also be treated to soften wrinkles known as “smoker’s lines” that form from repetitive movements.

Filler can be used to treat the hollows or dark circles under the eyes to soften this area, reducing shadows and creating a more rested look. Not all clients are great candidates for this procedure, ask your provider.

Loss of definition in the jawline can occur with age or weight fluctuations. Filler can create a sharper, more contoured jawline for a defined and youthful appearance.​

Loss of volume in the cheeks due to aging can lead to a hollow or flat appearance. Fillers can restore volume, improve facial contours, and provide a more youthful appearance.​

Certain types of depressed acne scars can be filled in to create a smoother skin surface and reduce their visibility.

A weak or receding chin can be enhanced with filler to improve balance and symmetry in the facial profile.​

The lines running from the sides of your nose to the corners of your mouth. These deepen with age and can be softened with filler to restore a smoother, more youthful appearance.​ Often other areas are treated along with the nasolabial folds for a more natural-looking outcome.

Vertical lines that extend from the corners of the mouth toward the chin. These can create a downturned or sad appearance, which filler can be placed precisely to soften. Other areas are often considered when treating this area for a more natural-looking outcome. 

With the aging process, shadows can appear in the crease of the chin and lateral aspect below the lip (marionette lines). Fillers can can soften and smooth these areas for a more relaxed, youthful appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dermal fillers are injectable substances used to restore volume, smooth wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. Most fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that attracts and retains moisture.  You can find more information in our ‘What You Need to Know About Dermal Filler’ article.

The duration depends on the type of filler and the treatment area. Most hyaluronic acid fillers last 6–18 months+. This can vary greatly depending on an individuals metabolism, lifestyles, age, etc.

Most fillers contain a numbing agent (lidocaine) to reduce discomfort. Providers may also apply a topical numbing cream before the procedure to enhance comfort.

When administered by a qualified professional, dermal fillers are generally safe if you are a good candidate for the treatment. Side effects are typically mild and can include swelling, redness, or bruising. Rare complications, like vascular occlusion, require immediate medical attention. Ask your provider for more information.

Most hyaluronic acid fillers can be reversed and dissolved. If you’re unhappy with the results, we can assess and provide a treatment plan for dissolving.

Results are typically visible immediately after the treatment. However, some swelling or bruising may temporarily obscure the final outcome. Typically after 4-6 weeks you will see improved results, and some treatments improving further even after this time frame.

Recovery is typically minimal. Most people resume normal activities immediately, although it’s advised to avoid intense exercise, heat, pressure to areas and direct sun exposure and alcohol consumption for 24–48 hours after treatment. Ask your provider for more information.

Avoid blood-thinning medications, supplements (like aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E, etc., if able), and avoid alcohol consumption for at least 48 hours before the appointment to minimize bruising. Arrive to your appointment without any makeup on. Consider rescheduling your appointment if you have dental work (including cleanings), vaccinations, or if you are sick 2 weeks pre/post filler treatment. Speak to your provider for more information.

Common side effects include mild swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness at the injection site. Rare complications include infection, allergic reactions, or vascular occlusion, which require prompt medical attention. Speak to your provider for more information.

Intake will include a medical history review and an assessment of your anatomy to determine if you are a good candidate for filler. 

Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals and those with certain medical conditions may need to postpone treatment.
